It’s Time To Rock The Boat

It’s Time to Rock The Boat – Have you been in a situation where you know that speaking your mind will cause trouble for those around you or even ruffle a few feathers? You start battling silently with yourself and are stopped by that inner thought – “Don’t rock the boat!”.

There may be several reasons for not taking the road less travelled. We don’t want to cause trouble, disappoint others or draw attention to ourselves. Perhaps we do want to stand up for what we think is right but are hesitant to be the first one to do it. Are you willing to put yourself out there?

Sometimes it is essential that we do make a stand! Find our voice and our position in society. Be known for what we believe in even when if it goes against the grain. Often, it only takes one person to stand up for something they are passionate about and eventually momentum gets build and a movement is born.

It starts with rocking the boat!

I love how it relates to your brand & marketing. Your brand is built on your business (and personal) values. If those values are in jeopardy, be emboldened to come out guns blazing. It is only your brand identity at stake. Customers and ideal clients like to know who they are dealing with. Someone who delivers to their values!

How do you do this?

  • First, say what you do – then, do what you say!
  • Follow through with ‘Can I help you further?’
  • Invite feedback by asking ‘How did it go?’, ‘What could be done better in the future?’ etc.

Along the way you are building trust so that when you must rock the boat in future, your client is most likely to say ‘I am ready, let’s do it together!’
