Wild & Woolly – Best Excuse

When there are external factors beyond your control, do you fight it or do you cave in and let them take a life of their own, weaving and curling, wavy or straight, over our eyes and into our ears?

What are we talking about? Our crowning glory! In lockdown, without access to a beloved stylist, our hair suddenly acquired a passport to roam the world. How best do we cope with this newfound hair freedom?

Don’t stress it but rest it and let your hair down. Let it rip and let it grow wild. Have some fun – wear a beanie / hat / bandana or hair band. Go crazy – pleat it, dye it, slick it or create a fringe or bangs. Craft a new look, a new you and if others don’t like it, too bad, so sad – as you now have the license to blame it on a Bad Hair Day, EVERY DAY!

How does this relate to your brand and marketing? When encountering adversities beyond our control, how can you still maintain serving your clients and your community?

When you may not be able to serve them physically, start creating alternate business models to engage online or re-imagine the way you think of ‘serving’. This is not the time to press the ‘pause’ button on your brand and marketing. Keeping your brand top of mind with your community is in fact crucial – you might be re-imagining  the role of your staff so that instead of telemarketing, it is tele-support calls. Instead of transporting your clients, you are delivering essential supermarket shopping and other services to them etc. If we don’t consider and implement alternative solutions, you know who will.

So, just like the case of your hair growing wild and woolly due to lockdown, think of ways to control and direct your business to new service packaging, new marketing styles, and new branding looks. You might uncover new markets.
